China Earthquake ~ in Photos

CHINA EARTHQUAKE ~ IN PHOTOS
SpiderLiliez LiveJournal
By: SpiderLiliez

For the time being, we would like to pause from posting entertainment news and talk about something more important than anything else we've ever posted in this journal. We have always wanted to post this sooner. Though you've seen this all over the news for the past weeks, I hope you'd still take the time to view this entry.

We all know, that the province of Sichuan was left in mourning, from a quake so strong (measuring 7.9 magnitude) it has left almost 65,000 people dead, and millions of families homeless. The tragedy has brought China and the Chinese people together, but their unity is not enough to deal with such a tragedy. They need all the help they can get.

Below are photos from the aftermath of the Sichuan earthquake. Please be warned that some of these images contain graphic content. Though you weren't able to witness it all yourself, I pray these photos will speak to you.

Our sincerest condolences to the families and victims of the quake. How I wish that such an event will not be repeated in history. For the rest of us, all there is to do is pray, live on, and help out any way we can. The smallest donations will mean a lot to those affected by this tragedy.

I realise it's made a lot of people speechless but I think it's important that people are aware of exactly what is happening at this exact moment. As fans of Asian artists we should be even more inclined to help and as I was so digusted that some directors at the Sundance Festival didn't even know there had been an Earthquake!

I have sent a similar article to my e-mail contacts in a bid to get some more donations. The entire World should be uniting to help. Thank you for this post.

Thank you for posting this. It was needed. I am sad that there is so little coverage of this disaster...I was horrified to see the amount of destruction and lives lost.

We need more awareness. I am not Chinese, and I admit I knew very little about exactly what happened.

I hate to sound resentful but the western media in general (including EU countries) are not reporting on this as much as they should...as much as they would have if the same magnitude of earthquke or a distater hit the States. I am disappointed, especially at the comments made about the karma.

May all those lost rest in peace.
