By request, we are uploading this beautiful collection of albums from renowned Japanese composer and pianist Yuhki Kuramoto. There are four (4) albums in this collection, “Time for Journey,” “Reminiscence,” “Romance,” and “Lake Misty Blue.” These are the only ones we have so far.

We will also upload his admired works from the beautiful Japanese film from the 90’s “Love Letter.” We hope you can check back later for that. We apologize if there are glitches in the music files; we weren’t able to check the MP3 files one by one.

This collection is dedicated to Lina at tvxqpiano who’s been very kind in sharing her piano versions of TVXQ’s songs. And to the people who has admired works by Yuhki Kuramoto. We hope you all enjoy this collection!

I was just browsing some news earlier and found out about “Box in the Ship.”

Though only a B-side for TOHOSHINKI’s 23rd single (Doushite Kimi wo Suki Natte Shimattan Darou?), the song “Box in the Ship” has been floating around like a treasure wanting to be found. Thanks to the audio previews that has been popping out recently at music and video sharing sites. We got a chance to hear this happy upbeat song.

The song has a sunny, summer feel to it, it even reminds me a lot of the Caribbean beaches. The genre is a cross between reggae and pop. It’s a very catchy song, and it's just another reason why you should buy the single. I’m quite certain they’d be singing this song in A-Nation which will take place late July until the end of August. The song is just perfect for A-Nation and the summer season.

Two years after their “O-Union” album, TVXQ is now finally set to release their 4th Korean album!

Amazingly, on the first day, according to SM Entertainment, the number of people that pre-ordered the album broke records. Reportedly the pre-orders were already a whopping 200,000 just on the first day. When TVXQ released their first album (Tri-Angle), it was only 10,000. During their second album (Rising Sun), they got 130,000 pre-orders. On their 3rd album “O-Union” pre-orders on the first 2 days reached 100,000.

TVXQ has been a very busy group. They have been concentrating in Japan for almost a year or two and their popularity has truly skyrocketed across Asia, making international music audiences curious. Now that their 4th album is set for release, not only their Korean fans, but also International fans, are buying the album.

Fans across Korea have been waiting for TVXQ to make a comeback in their homeland. These Korean fans have been anticipating an album release since last year. That much wait must have been frustrating. But fans still show their support and love despite it all. In fact their support seem to have gotten even bigger.

It is expected that TVXQ will take home some prestigious awards by the end of 2008. According to our source, last year’s Golden Disk Awards top record was 150,000 record sales. But now that TVXQ has already received a big 200,000 pre-orders on the first day, what more when the album is officially released? It is predicted that their record sales might even reach to 500,000 or more!

The 4th album release is set for September 2008. TVXQ is now currently busy recording songs for the new album. Fans have been spotting them in and out of SM Entertainment’s office for the past weeks. Reportedly, TVXQ will be releasing a Korean version of their Japanese song Kiss Shita Mama Sayonara (As We Kissed Goodbye), which was written and composed by TVXQ members, Micky Yoochun and Hero Jaejoong collaborated on this song.

Indeed, TVXQ is becoming better and better as they grow with their music. They have proved that they deserve more than be called “idols” in Korea. And we already know that they have become more than that.

As many of you know, TOHOSHINKI’s 3rd LIVE TOUR 2008 ~T~ concert was recently aired on TBS channel. Sadly, a lot of fans weren’t able to watch it due to TBS’ unavailability. The concert is sort of like a preview for fans who were not able to watch/attend the show during their tour from March to May 2008.

The TBS version, lasted for 1 hour and 30 minutes, showcasing only 20 songs, compared to the actual concert itself, that showcases 24 songs, including their encore Kiss Shita Mama, Sayonara (which was not aired on TBS ~ along with Purple Line, Rainbow, and High Time).

This MP3 compilation consists of 20 songs/performances aired by TBS at the last leg of their “T” concert tour held at Saitama Super Arena. And as bonus, we also included their last song, Kiss Shita Mama Sayonara, provided by Rhythm Zone and MUSICO which I think wasn't recorded from Saitama Super Arena, but we added it anyway.

We scrapped the previous RAR and uploaded the new and improved versions of the audio-rips. This new batch are now clear and Hi-Quality in sound, which includs TOHOSHINKI talking after a few songs. Pop Groups and their Growing Fanclubs

Most teenagers would know the answers to this question because either they are or their friends are members of these clubs.

The words written above are all names of celebrity fan clubs. Members of these fan clubs consist mostly of teens. More and more teens are starting to get interested in celebrity fan clubs, especially those for singers.

The number of teenagers joining fan clubs is so great that they are getting attention from around the world. Cassiopeia, the fan club of Korean boy band TVXQ (동방신기), has been recorded in the Guinness World Records book of 2008, for being the biggest fan club for an artist in the whole world. Cassiopeia consisted of over 800,000 official members from China, Japan and South Korea when last counted. This number is excluding the non-official members.

Fan clubs follow their artists wherever they go, whether it is an airport, a TV station, the stars' homes and office. Sometimes they wait not knowing when their stars will appear. But they don't feel tired or fatigued at all because being able to see their idols make them happy.

Having the passion for someone and something is a positive thing. But some of these fans have too much passion that they tend to forget their schoolwork and make their parents worry. Celebrities like to be loved by their fans. But it is apparent that they do not want their fans to quit or drop out of school or have conflict with their family.

It's not surprising coz fan clubs are taken so seriously in Asian countries, so its not surprising that these Asian artists can gain lots of fans, especially that fan clubs usually operate on the internet. Fan clubs is a measure for ones popularity, but not entirely. International artists don't really do fan clubs, if they have, they just don't promote it like Asian artists do. Anyway thats a culture difference I guess.

Gillian Chung and Charlene Choi are "TWINS NO MORE"

Over the past seven years, TWINS members Charlene Choi (Ah Sa) and Gillian Chung (Ah Gill) have joined hands to get through the most difficult of times together and become a powerful group. However, they have finally decided to formally disband and go their separate ways in the development of their careers.

Established during the new millenium, TWINS brought together Charlene and Gillian, unknown, ordinary girls who gained immense popularity and swept into the music, acting, and advertising industries. This combination of such popular girls won them the prestigious "Asia Pacific's Most Popular Female Singer" award.

In February of this year, however, Ah Gill was involved in a sex scandal that led to harsh criticisms and backlash. During these past months following the scandal, Gill has been seen diligently studying dance and English to pave the way to her comeback. Because Gill was able to hold a number of advertisements during her time away from the spotlight and Ah Sa has been filming and advertising non-stop, EEG has the confidence to allow for their independent development and has chosen to disband TWINS. It has been understood that ever since TWINS' last Mandarin album, no new songs have been recorded and thus, their CD project has been suspended.

When approached about the news of TWINS disbandment, EEG's artist manager Mani only said, "Over the years, TWINS have been creative, capable in their workload and have had their different styles." Asked whether Sa and Gill would work together in the near future? "It's not a matter of within the short term of time because their organization of work is separate."

It appears that their disbandment is imminent.

After completion of her two films "The Butterfly Lovers" and "Storm Warriors II," Charlene will be moving onward with her work in films. As for Gill, it has been said that it has been arranged for her to star in a Hollywood film.

Hmmm... this is probably just another rumor. I don’t think EEG will let these two separate so easily. I can’t say they’re talented singers, but they’re good and hardworking actors. I hope the rumor isn't true. But if this news article is somewhat true, then I guess TWINS fans just have to accept it, at least they would still be around in showbiz, right?

I’m thinking it won’t be a big blow to them anymore because TWINS hasn’t been together since the scandal early this year. Having them separate for real would probably hurt fans, but not that much, as some people have already expected this to happen.

But like I said, it might just be a rumor. You know, the interesting thing about gossip news is that you always have be open-minded when you read them, especially if you yourself can't believe it just yet. Some people get so worked up when it comes to rumors and "unconfirmed" news and scandals.

I say, if you're going to read stuff on the internet, you should expect the worst. If you want factual verified news, go and watch CNN instead. Feed yourself on real actual events, it's educational too. But you know, not even CNN’s celebrity news is all that factual.

As for this article and other articles or rumors we have ever posted in this LJ, when reading them everyone should just chillax and wait for further developments.

To those who can’t wait to get the DVD, you can finally watch TOHOSHINKI’s Japanese concerts, including their “3rd LIVE TOUR 2008 ~T~” at TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) channel from June 28-29, as well as in July.

If you have the channel on cable, good for you! To those who don’t have TBS, you “might” be able to watch at KeyHoleTV. Because according to its website, “KeyholeTV has a decent, but limited selection of channels. The bigger channels are TBS, TV Tokyo, TV Asahi, and Fuji TV.”

We heard TVAnts does not have TBS on their channel list/search, so KeyHoleTV might save your day.

NAMIE AMURO Sues Women's Magazine Over Photos

NAMIE AMURO SUES WOMEN'S MAGAZINE OVER PHOTOS

Singer Namie Amuro, 30, this week sued the publisher of women’s magazine Shukan Josei, claiming that the magazine violated her privacy by publishing photos of her and her 10-year-old son. Amuro is seeking 22 million yen in compensation.

According to Amuro’s lawyers, on June 10, the magazine published photos of the two of them walking together and shopping at a convenience store. In a statement released by her agency, Amuro said, “We don’t want our private life to be exposed to the public and we don’t want to live with the fear of always being on display to the public.”

Japan is known to have some strict rules when it comes to media coverage, and privacy rights are firmly imposed. It’s one reason why you don't see TOHOSHINKI on tabloid stories whenever they’re in Japan. And fans don’t really stalk them and follow them around, unless you’re careless enough to face some possible consequences.

For public figures, mostly it (the law) has a sole purpose of protecting the "private lives of the people in the “public” eye. But application of the law will depend on the story behind the “subject” (the person whose story/photos are published). If his/her story serves the public interest then it might be as acceptable as any other articles and photos published everyday.

Anyway, still... suing someone for some undamaging photos really sound funny to me. In Amuro’s case, the photos had his son’s face “blurred.” Sounds harmless right? But we don’t know the story behind Amuro and the press, and why exactly she got so worked up by the photos. Probably they’ve done it all before to her and she thought its time to make them realize when to stop.

Another incident happened to actress Ryoko Hirosue, but with hers, the tabloid paper ran a rather degrading story of her as a wife and a mother. Hirosue won the case. Why she filed a lawsuit against them sounds very reasonable. As for Amuro’s, I don’t know. Maybe she just had enough money to piss off some people she didn't like (no pun intended).

But like I said earlier, photos/articles that don’t have anything to do with the public’s interest can be questionable, and that can be quite extreme for the non-Japanese to know. And, to make it short, yes Namie Amuro can actually have a case.

JYP says RAIN has "No Hit Song"

Fans of Rain did not like what Park Jin Young (JYP) said in his recent interview with GQ magazine.

Park Jin Young said, “1/3 of Wonder Girls’ albums and digital music income is already half of Rain’s albums and digital music income. Wonder Girls’ has low promotion costs but its album and digital music profits were relatively high. Rain had high promotion costs but he doesn’t have a hit song.”

For Rain’s fans, it was “disappointing” to read such statement from Park Jin Young, who handled Rain’s career while he was still in JYP Entertainment.

Fans also added that for Park Jin Young to say that Rain had “no hit song” was a slap on his face because Park did most of Rain’s songs.

“What a terrible birthday gift,” was also one of the fans’ comments to Park Jin Young’s statement. Rain is celebrating his 27th birthday today, June 25.

Ooh that's harsh! I'm no follower of Rain nor am I a fan of the Wonder Girls (but I like their songs now). Though Rain isn't under JYP's company anymore, I think it's unethical of JYP to compare (in public) the record sales and profits made by people he has worked with. Most specifically talking about the income they generated. So technically the guy is saying, its so much better now with the Wonder Girls, cos he earns more with them. LOL

About the hit song, honestly I am not familiar with Rain's music (you can kill me for that), but I just wasn't a Kpop fan back then.

AVEX knows how to keep TOHOSHINKI / TVXQ fans at the edge of their seats. Today an official MV was released, but TOHOSHINKI wasn't in a single frame of the video.

Some fans were a bit disappointed since they've been waiting for the video for weeks. It seems like the drama version was only released to buy TOHOSHINKI and their production team more time to work on their own MV version.

The current MV is only a drama version, the storyline is exactly what the title suggests. It shows a young man attending the wedding of a girl he loves. He never told her his feelings even up to his last chance that he could. He just kept it all to himself, and telling himself why he had to fall in love with her.

Reportedly another version will be out as well, which will feature TOHOSHINKI this time. There's been no definite date on when the said video will be released. But we think anytime soon. And it might catch you by surprise.

Honestly, I really like this MV. I don't mind that TOHOSHINKI isn't in it. The song itself is beautiful... bittersweet and beautiful. The visuals of the music video really captured the pain and longing of the song. This video is enough for me, though it would be nice to see them on the said upcoming version as well.

Anyway, I guess Changmin could relate to this song (pertaining to his long time crush on Korean actress Han Ga-In). And I can imagine Junsu comforting him over and over again.

9-year-old jazz drummer Tiger has officially become recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's youngest professional drummer. The title was made official on Thursday, while he was in New York to perform at the Clinton Recording Studio with artists such as famous pianist Benny Green.

Tiger, whose real name is Taiga Onitsuka, started playing the drums at the age of 5, and he first performed in New York two years later in 2005. This April, he released his first major label album "TIGER!" through Columbia's Savoy Records.

With reference to the news article we posted last April about little Tiger here, we we're already blown away (especially me). Last April it was reported that the application for Guinness was just submitted, and now he's already indeed the "World's Youngest Professional Drummer" according to Guinness. His parents must be so proud.

His debut CD album entitled TIGER! was released 2 months ago (April 23). A CD+DVD entitled "Incredible Tiger! -LIVE-" was released on the same month, featuring collaborations with various jazz musicians ~Blue Smith, Kankawa and jazz trumpeter extraordinaire Eddie Henderson.

Tiger will be in New York this coming July for the "TIGER Meets New York Real Jazz" at the SMOKE ~Jazz and Super Club-Lounge, which will feature Eddie Henderson, John Farnsworth, Mike LeDonne, and Dwayne Burno.

Imagine being a PRO at 9?.. I really wish you guys can watch this kid, he's just amazing!

TVXQ PERFORMS AT AVEX's 20th ANIVERSARRY GENERAL MEETING OF STOCKHOLDERS

TVXQ, one of the top male vocal groups in Asia, was invited to perform at Avex's 20th anniversary general meeting of stockholders at the Saitama Super Arena on June 22.

Some 8,910 stockholders and their families attended the general meeting to congratulate Avex on their 20th founding anniversary. The number of Avex stockholders this year increased by 2,800 compared to last year.

TVXQ, which has established itself as the face of Avex, was among the performers who performed at the event. They included singer and songwriter Noriyuki Makihira, TRF and seven-member dance vocal group Exile.

TVXQ is set to tour Japan as part of the 2008 'A-Nation' concert tour which will be held from July until the end of August. It plans to return to Korea in September with its fourth studio album.

J-POP STARS ROCK AVEX'S SHAREHOLDER MEETING

Top J-pop singers of major record label Avex Group Holdings Inc. wowed the audience Sunday at a Saitama Super Arena concert after the company's shareholder meeting.

Among performing artists at the concert held only for the shareholders and their companions were Namie Amuro, Ai Otsuka and Kumi Koda. Individual shareholders are known for being quiet about the company's management, but the shareholders at the concert cheered loudly for their favorite artists at the concert.

This year's Avex shareholder meeting drew a record 8,910 people, an increase of 2,800 from last year. "Our shareholder meeting has become Japan's largest in history, overtaking Sony's shareholder meeting held on June 20 that had some 7,800 attendants," company officials said.

It's not mentioned in the article, but other artist who also performed at the shareholder's meeting (along with Namie Amuro, Koda Kumi, Ai Ostuka) were MihimaruGT, Alan, TRF, Yusaku Kiyama, Noriyuki Makihara, EXILE, Sekijo Kaneda and of course, Tohoshinki (TVXQ). As well as Maki Goto who sang Whitney Houston's "Saving All My Love for You."

AVEX was Japan's leading dance record company back in the 90s. The company continues to endorse some of Japan's most famous J-pop singers. Goto Maki is their new talent, meanwhile our favorite Tohoshinki signed up with AVEX back in 2005, and have recently given much pride for the recording label for their successful hit singles and concerts. Their 23rd upcoming single is expected to give AVEX record sales once again on its release.

AVEX is responsible for the much-anticipated annual summer music event A-NATION which started in 2002. A-NATION is expected to wow audiences again this year with new songs and new performers. Big Bang's TOP is concentrating on composing new songs.

TOP is working extra hard on composing songs for the new Big Bang album coming out in august. TOP is also featuring as a rapper in Uhm Jung Hwa's album coming out on July 1st.

Even though working in Uhm Jung Hwa's comeback performance is busy enough, TOP has also been occupied with his new activity [composing].

The reason why TOP has started composing again was because of certain fan letter. During the '2008 Global Warning Tour' on the 22nd in the Seoul Stadium TOP stated that "The new album is in preperation right now. Not long ago a fan sent me a letter saying that she'd like to see Big Bang become a group that is respected as true singers. After reading that letter I felt this sudden urge to start composing again." He also stated that he will "Work hard so that Big Bang will become true singers."

On this day TOP showed off his new hairdo for Uhm Jung Hwa's comeback performance. "This is the first time [during the Seoul concert] I'm showing my new hairstyle." TOP also stated that "I felt like a student constantly getting his hw checked while working on Uhm Jung hwa sunbae's music video." TOP was amazed and learned much from Uhm Junh Hwa on the set.

TOP also stated that he "Felt so proud" when Taeyang won 1st place on MNet with his new song "Look at Only Me".

"Even though he's a dongseng, his hard working look has influenced me." [As in TOP would like to do some solo related work like TaeYang is doing right now.]

On another note, Big Bang's '2008 Global Warning Tour' has been going on since March in Japan, Thailand, and Korea. Big Bang felt especially heart warming performing in Thailand and Japan since it was their first time performing in theses places since their debut. Big Bang will end their 3 month long concert tour in Seoul on the 22nd.

It's funny how people argue about when an artist is truly an artist. There are certain "said" qualifications on how and when people will start calling you a true artist (take note I did not say "singer"). This is depending on people's tastes.

One, is when a "person" is given a recording contract despite no actual singing talent. Second, is when the artist(s) do not "lip sync" on his/her/their live performances. Third, is when artists can actually sing (pertaining that he/she/they have good voices). Forth, is when an artist can sing and dance at the same time (w/o lip syncing of course). Fifth, is when an artist(s) composes his/her/their own songs. Sixth, is when artists play their own music, meaning they can play live music during their performances and concerts... Well there are probably more you can think of. But of course these categories will not apply to every artist out there, since there are different ways to entertain people with your music.

On TOP's case, when he pertained to composing as an indication of becoming true singers; in my standard, that's the level that I prefer, although I wouldn't exactly say composing will make you a "true singer." I know it might be a different from your standard, but I have a friend who leads a popular band (she and her band, performed at Asia Song Festival last year). She sings, composes and plays her own songs (she plays the piano, the guitar and the accordion). She's really talented when it comes to making her own music, and I really really respect her for that. I guess this is the standard that I got used to, so it sure/might be different from your perspective as a music lover.

But then again, this time, as compared to TOP's statement, I think a true singer doesn't have to compose their own songs to be called real singers. Maybe a true musician should. But "singers" are singers because they have the talent to sing, regardless of, if they composed their songs or not. There are artists out there in the international music scene who don't compose their own songs, and yet they are big names and are well respected as singers. So technically you don't have to compose your own music to become "real singers," but it surely is a PLUS!

But I guess TOP sees it differently, and BIG BANG wants to prove they are capable of being better artists. Well, I already respect them for their talent and their music, though of course they can improve more, and we can expect that as they grow in the music business.

Ahn Jae-hyun, the english writer of Arirang Pops in Seoul disclaimed the spreading promotion of Pops in Seoul 1000th episode on Arirang news page which is said to be held in Manila, Philippines on July 5th. Fans of Min Kyung Hoon demanded a confirmation from them and so they did. Arirang Pops in Seoul is the most popular music program and has opened an online voting since 1998.

Pops in Seoul 1000th survey is an online casting votes survey for different categories such as "Best Male Solo Artists", "Best Female Solo Artists", "K-pop's Best Singing Group", "Best Music Video of the Year", and "Exotic Backdrops of K-pop Music Videos".

The survey lasted for 14 consecutive days (May 30 to June 13). The staff confirmed that there is no such thing as definite destination abroad for its program episodes.

VJ Isak feels sorry about the Philippine fans of Min Kyung Hoon who have been anticipating for it.

Well, too bad for the fans in the Philippines who looked forward for this event. We're not sure who were the people who said that it was already finalized but according to a poster/ad created by CASS PH (a Filipino fan club for TVXQ), it was written there (in the ad) that it was "finalized" for July 5th at 3pm.

But it's probably just a misunderstanding between the people connected to ARIRANG and the eager fans who have been inquiring about the said event.

Wonder if this is a rumor as well, but we'll keep you guys posted.

Korea's popular male vocal group TVXQ will perform with top Japanese female artist Namie Amuro. TVXQ and Amuro will perform together at the annual "A-Nation" concert which was first launched in 2002 by Japan's largest entertainment agency, Avex. Amuro's management agency announced last week that the artist will be performing at this year's A-Nation concert.

It will be her first outdoor performance in six years. Amuro will take part in eight concerts starting with the first at the Miyazaki Prefecture. She will also perform at the Ishikawa Prefecture, Aiichi Prefecture and Osaka as well as Tokyo. Namie plans to release a compilation album of her best hit songs on July 30 and begin a five-month concert series starting in October.

Meanwhile, TVXQ has been invited to perform at the A-Nation concert for the second consecutive year.

Honestly I have never seen Namie Amuro perform, nor have I heard of her songs. I wonder what songs they're going to sing together (if they WILL sing together). Though fans are saying they're not really going to perform together, just that they will be performing on the same stage. I suppose TVXQ will perform two songs at least. I hope they perform their latest songs.

Ah~ summer again, I really don't like the heat. But... can't wait to see A-Nation!

Today June 22, TOHOSHINKI finally released the full version of their music video "Doushite Kimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimatan Darou" [ どうして君を好きになってしまったんだろう？].

The video was first aired at TVK around midnight, Japan time, along with Japanese artists Namie Amuro, and Kumi Koda, who both also had their videos released on the same program.

The video features TOHOSHINKI's 23rd Japanese single. Fans have been anticipating the video's release since audio previews was made available. A few days ago a 13-second preview of the video was released, causing fans to anticipate even more.

Meanwhile, YesAsia has already added TVXQ’s up-coming 4th Korean album in their database ( click here ). If you’re planning to get a copy of the album at the time of its release, you can now have YesAsia, notify you once the album is available for pre-ordering. The release date is August 27, 2008.

Apparently, the video release seem to be just a rumor, because as of today, no video of the said MV was ever seen by anyone, not even us.

It is a fact that there are thousands of Koreans living and studying in the Philippines, but there are hardly any news of Kpop artists and events being held there.

This time Filipino fans gets that Kpop treat as Arirang’s top program POPS IN SEOUL comes to Manila to celebrate their 1000th episode. It’s expected that the event will be swarmed by fans.

The program will tape their special episode hosted by VJ Isak and special guest artist Min Gyoong-Hun (BUZZ). It has been recently confirmed that the taping will take place at the Manila Film Center, on July 5, 2008 at 3pm. According to our source, the event is admission free, so Filipino Kpop fans can watch the taping.

The venue, Manila's Film Center is rumored to be a famous haunted building built in the late 1970's. The rumor makes fans even more curious and eager to participate.

Pops in Seoul, has been airing since 1998, and has continuously presented Kpop music to the world for the past nine years. It is Arirang TV's most popular music program. Hosted by VJ Isak (Kim Isak), the program features current music and news on what’s hot on K-pop culture.

The program also aims to support and promote Korean musicians' activities abroad and providing overseas viewers with the latest Korean pop music and information.

Min Gyoong-Hun (BUZZ) will not be the show's guest artist on their 1000th episode.

Earlier this year rumors circulated that SM was going to debut ANOTHER girl group and well, what do you know?

TOUCHS is a 7-member group, that will debut this June with a digital single! Here’s a little info about this upcoming group: SM Entertainment’s TOUCHS will have seven members. Four (4) members will be from Korea, while the other three will be from China, Japan and Singapore.

Besides knowing many languages from many countries, it will have other specialties as well. Members include: Eary, Stella, Hajin, Hoon Jung, Hee Bin, Joene, and Ye Jin. Their song will be written by famous lyricist Yoo Young Jin and will be given a digital release.

Hmmm... does SM create new groups every year? I'm starting to wonder if this is good for their other artists, especially if they're just all gonna be on the same genre --POP. Seriously, SM Entertainment should think about creating a new group with a new concept other than singing and dancing.

Maybe a young multi-talented group, which aside from singing and dancing (as a group), they can also play their own instruments if they want to perform as a band. But maybe that's asking too much, but who knows? It's an interesting concept, but guess they'd probably look too manufactured that way.

Hallyu Stars and the Korean Military Service

The site claimed that Culture Minister Yoo In-chon and some 18th National Assembly lawmakers are hoping to amend the laws.

“It is true we submitted a form asking to reduce the military service period for hallyu stars, but nothing has been decided yet,” said Hwang Sung-woon of the Ministry.

J-Tune Entertainment, Rain’s agency, is also in the dark. “It isn’t an issue that we are involved in,” said Cho Dong-won, head of the agency.

HALLYU STARS EXEMPT FROM MILITARY SERVICE?

As most of us know, all South Korean males ages 18 - 30 must serve two years in mandatory military service. If you avoid the service, you will be labeled as a coward and must serve a prison term... or run away like Yoo Seung Jun. Hallyu stars were not exempt from this rule, and many famous Korean actors and pop stars would have to serve in the military in the prime of their careers. However, things may change.

The head of the Korean Tourism Organization recently talked about needing to waive this mandatory military service for "Hallyu Stars". He argued that these stars promote Korea's culture and contribute greatly to Korean society. He used Rain / Bi as an example, explaining that his recent roles in "Speed Racer" and "Ninja Assassin" are bringing more awareness to Korean entertainment (more importantly for the head of Korean Tourism an increasing interest in foreigners to visit Korea). He argued that if Rain, who's turning 27 later this year were to go to the military for 2 years that a lot of the hype / sizzle around him would die down, and the 2 years that he could've spent to further promote himself and Korea would be gone.

The Korean Ministry Culture Organization said that they have had internal discussions about this very subject, but do not wish to share these discussions publicly.

I've been reading about this issue for the past couple of days or so. First of all I am not Korean, but I'd like to give my opinion as an observer, as well as a fan of Korean entertainment.

We all know that eventually because of this law, male celebrities will have to take a break from show business and be away for two (2) years doing military service. In some cases, when these celebrities come back from the military, some of them are not the same anymore.

My friend talked to a male Korean elder at work and he admitted that the military service has a huge affect in most men, like how it affected him. He said that their views in society and in life can change dramatically in those three (3) years [in the past, the mandatory service lasted for 3 years, now it's cut back to 2]. Like, in the case of actor Won Bin, the guy seemed to have changed a lot since he got back from the military.

With all that been said, the military service sounds daunting, or even scary. But in my opinion, I don’t think they should exempt Hallyu stars just because they promote Korea to the world. Most regular citizens work as hard as these celebrities (or works even more), and they also contribute and bring pride to their country just the same with what they do.

In Rain's case, he can always do military service later in his career, probably when he's not too busy. I'm sure he can find time. Just like other celebrities who joined the military in their 30s.

Super Junior's Kim Hee Chul in Hospital

Another day, another Super Junior member in the hospital. This time however, it was scheduled. Super Junior member Kim Hee Chul was at the Samsung Medical Center in Seoul today to undergo surgery on his left leg to remove iron rods (removing the only rod in his body). This is the third surgery on the same leg.

If you didn't know, Kim Hee Chul was in a pretty serious car accident about 2 years ago. He had five fractures in his left leg and required a 6 hour trip to the emergency room for surgery.

Kim Hee Chul's surgery was a success, and he is currently resting at the hospital. He is scheduled to undergo another treatment at the hospital in a month.

Ouch~ I didn't know he broke his leg before, that must have bothered him a lot for the past couple of years, especially when he needs to perform SMP songs with his group. Hope his leg fully recovers soon so he can get back to all his SUJU business and other activities that he's been doing. Well good luck to him!

Following on the footsteps of Wonder Girls and So Nyeo Shi Dae, a new girl group with 7 members called The B will soon make their debut. The entry of The B into the Korean music industry will continue the momentum and success of the girl groups phenomenom that erupted in the latter half of 2007 thanks to Wonder Girls and So Nyeo Shi Dae. A photo of this new group were published today and they would be using a sad ballad song titled “B Love” as their title song. The song is about forgetting a sad romance.

Their management believe that the song concept will be beyond everyone’s expectation while their acappella singing will be something different from what current girl groups offer. There will be two versions of their “B Love” MV, hoping that it will leave a strong impression on viewers after watching it. Goodberry Entertainment expressed, “Viewers will experience something refreshing from The B because of their amazing acappella and appearance.”

Ah~ another group. I wonder... I wonder if they are even good. Goodberry says they're an acapella group, ~~cos I haven't heard of n group of girls doing acapella~~ (most acapella groups were all men, like NSync, Boyz II Men, The Gospellers or TVXQ).

There's so many groups out there that its hard to keep up. Competition is tight, so these music companies should be sure that their talents are really that talented to make an impression. Having good looks is a big plus for newcomers as well, especially those from smaller music companies.

SHINEE MODELS FOR CLR!DE.N + SHINEE'S FASHION

SM Entertainment’s new group SHINee has been gaining a fair amount of attention since their pre-debut. Apart from their catchy first single, “Noona You are so Pretty (Replay),” which has been one of Kpop fans’ recent last song syndromes, SHINee was said to lead this generation’s dance, music and fashion trends.

And to prove they can do it, SHINee had recently landed a one (1) year contract to model for CLR!DE.n and carry the name with pride. The group was chosen for their quick rise in popularity among Kpop listeners, and their solid aim to lead Korea’s “what’s in” fashion.

Before their debut, SM Entertainment made it known that designer Ha Sang Baek will take charge and assist on SHINee’s style and looks. I suppose Ha Sang Baek will continue to dress them up now that they’re modeling for a brand name like CLR!DE.n.

But it seems like it won’t be easy for SHINee to please Kpop fans with their claim to become trend setters, as there are still many who cannot take a liking at their taste and appearance. Some netizens ridicule the group for not taking charge of their own clothes and style, like Big Bang. But most groups have stylists anyway, or fashion advisers.

Personally I’ve no problem with their style, or should I say “the style they were asked to carry.” I was born in the 80s so those clothes and colors aren’t exactly new to me. I remember wearing bright outfits and ridiculously loud-colored skinnies when I was a kid. Seeing SHINee’s style has become rather nostalgic for me, and brings back fun memories.

Talking about fashion, according to Leatrice Eiseman, of the Pantone Color Institute, colors of bright punctuate classic and versatile neutrals are what's perfect for this year's fashion (Spring and Summer). The Fashion Color Report says that “...neutrals combined with pops of brighter colors to create unique, distinctive looks are the basis for a great spring and summer wardrobe.”

On TVXQ's recent Beijing “O Concert,” the fab-five wore the same kind of colors mentioned by Eiseman, which is similar to what SHINee has been wearing mostly in their TV appearances, photo shoots and album cover.

Then again, you don't have to follow trends to look good, there really aren't any real rules in fashion. Whatever looks good should be fine. Variation is a good thing though.

I'm sure you've heard some neat Chipmunk versions of TVXQ's songs before, or you probably have your own collection. But usually I noticed their voices were made too "chipmunky" or "squeaky" which tends to sound irritating at times. So we decided to make our own collection that suited our tastes. So here's our very own version of Chipmunk TVXQ, and we want to call it, "OPPA! I SHRUNK THE SHIN KIS!"

We added the helium effect just right, without ruining the songs. It's still easy to listen to and still easy to sing along to. But instead of "TVXQ as Chipmunks" this version sounds as if they are "little children" singing rather beautifully. This compilation contains 60 of TVXQ's most loved and popular songs since their debut. It's separated into two (2) download links, containing Japanese and Korean songs respectively. Hope you guys enjoy this release!
