This album title is similar to Japanese hip-hop/pop group LEAD’s latest album, Stand Up. But the similarity ends there, except of course that they both do hip-hop.

하루 하루, is very Big Bang. The song is reminiscent of their hit song, LIES where it starts with a piano and proceeds to an upbeat tempo, and of course the rapping that comes after that.

천국,
is quite similar to 하루 하루 where it starts with a somber intro and eventually picks up the tempo. The chorus is quite catchy; it’s my favorite part of the song, and probably one of my favorite songs in this mini-album.

The song 착한 사람, also has that trademark, with a slow intro, then the upbeat tempo. The song is very so-so (to me), but a fanatic might think otherwise.

“Lady,”
has the sexiest intro, and I find it the best song in this album just because I'm getting tired of the usual sound they make. This one is rather different in sound and style. It has the best beat, very catchy.

“Oh My Friend,” has that punk-rock feel to it, its a pretty cool song if you dig this kind of music. Not my type though. But I'm pretty sure fans will like it.

I didn't expect much from this album. I’m not a big fan of the group, but I like some of their songs, and this album has some nice ones. But I guess I’m looking for a new sound from them. I'm getting quite tired of the usual music they make. Eventually I think they'll have to re-invent themselves... soon.

BIG BANG's T.O.P, “INFLUENCED BY A FAN TO START COMPOSING”

By: zorochan @Soompi

Big Bang's TOP is concentrating on composing new songs.

TOP is working extra hard on composing songs for the new Big Bang album coming out in august. TOP is also featuring as a rapper in Uhm Jung Hwa's album coming out on July 1st.

Even though working in Uhm Jung Hwa's comeback performance is busy enough, TOP has also been occupied with his new activity [composing].

The reason why TOP has started composing again was because of certain fan letter. During the '2008 Global Warning Tour' on the 22nd in the Seoul Stadium TOP stated that "The new album is in preperation right now. Not long ago a fan sent me a letter saying that she'd like to see Big Bang become a group that is respected as true singers. After reading that letter I felt this sudden urge to start composing again." He also stated that he will "Work hard so that Big Bang will become true singers."

On this day TOP showed off his new hairdo for Uhm Jung Hwa's comeback performance. "This is the first time [during the Seoul concert] I'm showing my new hairstyle." TOP also stated that "I felt like a student constantly getting his hw checked while working on Uhm Jung hwa sunbae's music video." TOP was amazed and learned much from Uhm Junh Hwa on the set.

TOP also stated that he "Felt so proud" when Taeyang won 1st place on MNet with his new song "Look at Only Me".

"Even though he's a dongseng, his hard working look has influenced me." [As in TOP would like to do some solo related work like TaeYang is doing right now.]

On another note, Big Bang's '2008 Global Warning Tour' has been going on since March in Japan, Thailand, and Korea. Big Bang felt especially heart warming performing in Thailand and Japan since it was their first time performing in theses places since their debut. Big Bang will end their 3 month long concert tour in Seoul on the 22nd.

It's funny how people argue about when an artist is truly an artist. There are certain "said" qualifications on how and when people will start calling you a true artist (take note I did not say "singer"). This is depending on people's tastes.

One
, is when a "person" is given a recording contract despite no actual singing talent. Second, is when the artist(s) do not "lip sync" on his/her/their live performances. Third, is when artists can actually sing (pertaining that he/she/they have good voices). Forth, is when an artist can sing and dance at the same time (w/o lip syncing of course). Fifth, is when an artist(s) composes his/her/their own songs. Sixth, is when artists play their own music, meaning they can play live music during their performances and concerts... Well there are probably more you can think of. But of course these categories will not apply to every artist out there, since there are different ways to entertain people with your music.

On TOP's case, when he pertained to composing as an indication of becoming true singers; in my standard, that's the level that I prefer, although I wouldn't exactly say composing will make you a "true singer." I know it might be a different from your standard, but I have a friend who leads a popular band (she and her band, performed at Asia Song Festival last year). She sings, composes and plays her own songs (she plays the piano, the guitar and the accordion). She's really talented when it comes to making her own music, and I really really respect her for that. I guess this is the standard that I got used to, so it sure/might be different from your perspective as a music lover.

But then again, this time, as compared to TOP's statement, I think a true singer doesn't have to compose their own songs to be called real singers. Maybe a true musician should. But "singers" are singers because they have the talent to sing, regardless of, if they composed their songs or not. There are artists out there in the international music scene who don't compose their own songs, and yet they are big names and are well respected as singers. So technically you don't have to compose your own music to become "real singers," but it surely is a PLUS!

But I guess TOP sees it differently, and BIG BANG wants to prove they are capable of being better artists. Well, I already respect them for their talent and their music, though of course they can improve more, and we can expect that as they grow in the music business.

I really thought they'd release an album full of "new" songs. I just realized they only reprised most of their songs from their Korean albums. Anyway, at least most are in English now, so its much easier to sing 'em now. Except for "Shake It" which has a lot of Korean and very little English. What's surprising though, is that the chorus on "Mad About You" is in Japanese, "My Girl" also has some bits of Japanese in its chorus. Well, surely that would impress their Japanese fans. My least favorite is still "This Love."  I never really liked their rendition even since in their Korean version. Regardless, the rest are pretty good.

BIG BANG WANTS TO BE WITH YOU

POPSEOUL

Big Bang released the music video to their highly anticipated summer single “With U” off their upcoming Japanese mini album set to hit shelves on May 28th.

Admittedly, it seems like the Big Bang boys are going to strike gold again with this song, despite the fact that its action-packed with intolerable fobby Engrish. The trance-inducing synthesizers in the beginning break the song away from the techno-rap formula they’ve been over-exploiting on their previous hits. In general, the song and MV are very reminiscent of Justin Timberlake’s Future Sex/Love Sounds album.

Hmmm... interesting. Big Bang might do well in Japan with the upcoming mini album as they did with their first. The song's pretty cool, though its not as catchy as their previous songs. Popseoul's right, the music reminded me of Justin Timberlake's songs. Can't wait to listen to the entire CD. It's interesting how Big Bang will do with their second Japanese release.

FANS AND YG ENTERTAINMENT SLAMS T.O.P. AND SHIM MIN AH DATING SCANDAL

COOLSMURF WORDPRESS
By: Coolsmurf

Fans of Big Bang and their management agency, YG Entertainment have swiftly stepped out in response to news that broke earlier today that T.O.P and Shim Min Ah was an item, claming it’s nothing but a big fat “LIE”. The news that claimed that T.O.P (Choi Seung Hyun) was in a relationship with actress Shim Min Ah has caused a storm especially among Big Bang fans.

Since the story broke this morning, Big Bang fans has been voicing their opinions all day, “Can’t believe this. This is too shocking.” Another wrote, “This is like Big Bang’s song, Lie. I can’t believe this.” Another group of netizens however gave their thumbs up, “If the scandal is true, the guy is suave and the girl is pretty, they are really compatible actually.”

T.O.P and Shim Min Ah management agencies have both issued statements to the media denying that any of this reported scandal was true by any accounts.

YG Entertainment said in an interview with SPN Edaily, Big Bang has been busy with their activities, thus this scandal is bordering on the ridiculous. Although we still need to verify this but I can assure you that nothing of this is true.”

Aww~ come on, people need to loosen up, start worrying about your own lives! I feel sorry for these stars, they must feel as if they’re in prison or wanted fugitives or something.

I really feel as if there is something very wrong in how Korean fans treat their celebrities. At least Hollywood stars can date freely and do what they like but still gain their fans’ respect. But in Korea, once you do something they (fans) don’t like (no matter how big and small it is) it puts your career in the balance (to some extremes maybe your own life and especially the person involved) as if the party involved with you is at fault.

Korean stars should stop babying their fans, its pathetic. They should teach them the limit of fandom and at least be able to enjoy their lives. I wouldn’t mind if my favorite celebrities date who they really like and deserve. Depriving them of happiness doesn’t make you a worthy fan. Celebrities in return should at least be responsible with their actions and also know their limits, since they are public figures who people look up to.

Then again, I don't see anything wrong with T.O.P. and Min Ah dating... just let them be.

YG's FEMALE TRIO

Sports Chosun
By: KRNLoop

Yang Hyun Suk revealed in an interview last April 30 that YG Entertainment is set to release a 3-member female group this Summer. The group’s name has not been decided yet.

Dubbed as the “Female BIG BANG,” the group is composed of Park Bom (photo above), who became popular because of an Anycall commercial she participated in with Lee Hyo Ri and Lee Jun Ki, Gong Minji, granddaughter of Korean Dance Artist Gong Ok Jin, and CL, who was seen in the performance of YG Family in last year’s SBS Music Awards.

Morever, BIG BANG member G-dragon was known to take charge in producing the trio’s debut album.

I thought I'd post this, since there are a lot of BIG BANG,'s fans out there who might find this interesting. Imagine a female version of BIG BANG... Korean girl's rapping and shaking their booties, imitating female African American singers. Hmmm... I don't know. Well all I can say is, good luck with the new group, I just hope they find their own identity and not copy other female groups from elsewhere. But that might prove inevitable.

BIG BANG'S TAEYANG RELEASES SOLO ALBUM IN MAY

OSEN
By: strawberrybj + soyboy01@ShenYuePop.com

Big Bang’s talented TaeYang will released a solo mini-album in the mid-May.

This album is expected to contain a showcase of R&B that TaeYang alwas wanted to do. Taeyang will show off his other, yet unseen, talents, and is looking forward to the results.

YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun Suk is also looking forward to Tae Yang’s solo album, and wrote in February on his homepage, “When looking around for people who are interested in Tae Yang’s solo album, people in their 10, 20 and 30’s; men more than women; music lovers rather than maniac fans – I think these people will like Tae Yang’s new album. The reason is not that Tae Yang can sing and dance very well overall, but because he is a singer who can clearly express the various emotions and moods that are appropriate and desired by specific age groups.”

Currently Tae Yang is busy with Big Bang’s national concert tour and his own solo album recordings. Top’s acting activities, Seungri’s musical actor debut, and now following another of Big Bang’s talented members, many are anticipating what kind of surprise Tae Yang will show.

Well good for Tae Yang, though I barely know anything about him, except that he's a member of Big Bang. Well, now at least I know that's he's on a solo project, much like his bandmates. It looks like the Big Bang boys are really busy as well. I wonder when will TVXQ do solo projects like these. I mean I rarely hear them do solo stuff, except for Xiah Junsu who sang a duet with Jang Ri In. Or they probably prefer doing things together as a team, as they've done so over the years. Well, anyway good luck to Tae Yang.

I’m not a fan of Big Bang, but I commend these guys for their talent. And I think they sound better than other boybands who add or use English in their songs (except for a few groups like Epik High maybe). I mean, at least these guys can sing the words better than other Korean artists, though its far from perfect, but it sounds better nevertheless.

This live concert album was pretty good, but the 2nd one was a lot better, especially since they sing with live music. But if you like Big Bang, or have just started listening to them, you should get this. It's nice to have live performances in your collections as well. Or better yet show your support by buying the album. Happy listening!

BIG BANG G-DRAGON AND SEUNG RI FOOL THEIR FANS

ALLKPOP
By: jinny in a bottle

Big Bang members G-Dragon (real name Kwon Ji Yong) and Seung Ri (real name Lee Seung Hyun) fooled their fans by pretending to be twins.

About 1,500 fans gathered at Seoul Nan Ji Park's campsite, after reading on the record label's website (YG Entertainment) that the boys will be filming their short movie at that location.

The boys stood in the entrance way of the park, stamping the awaiting fans, one by one, with stamps that read "Big Bang Lies."

G-Dragon and Seung Ri also conducted an interview, and personally hugged fans that said that G-Dragon and Seung Ri were their favorite members. Not one of the 1,500 fans ever caught on to the two boy's mischievous prank.

The two Big Bang members then went on stage to reveal who they really were. The fan's mouths flung wide open when they realized who the two guys that stamped their hands earlier were. And for the 1,500 fans they fooled, Big Bang performed a special mini-concert for them.

The boy's surprising event will air on SBS "Good Sunday - Change" on April 20 at 5:30pm.

I have yet to watch Change, it's a pretty interesting show. Hmmm, I doubt no one really noticed. Probably a few fans recognized them by looking at their eyes. Or maybe their voices perhaps? But that's a pretty cool joke, but they could have done something cooler than pretending to be twins and stamping on their fans. Maybe if they disguised themselves as security guards and give some fans a little problem with the entrace or something. That would have been better.

BIG BANG'S NEW SONG: “UNTIL WHEN”

NEWSEN
By: KRNLoop

Fans are in for a treat in the upcoming concert of BIG BANG in Busan on April 12 because the group’s new song called “How Long/Until When,” which was written by G-dragon and composed by G-dragon with Kim Do Hyun and will be included in the group’s new album that will be released this Summer, will be opened to them. The reason being is that this song was made for the fans so fans should enjoy it.

A special “Until When” video, which was specifically made for the concert, will be opened to the audience.

“I’d like to thank fans for always believing in us and giving us the courage when we’re having hard times. The best way to repay fans is through music,” G-dragon said, who has been accused of plagiarism because of the group’s hit song “Lie,” which he also made.

BIG BANG’s nationwide tour called “2008 Global Warning Tour” is going to start in Busan on the 12th, then in Kwangju on the 27th, in Wonju on May 11, in Daegu on May 24 and in Seoul on June 21-22.

I wonder what the song is actually about “Until When (will you be our fans)” or “Until When (will we gain more fans)” –you guess, because they said it’s a song for their fans.

To be honest, this group doesn’t appeal to me much, maybe it’s just because I’m getting old or something, or I just don’t like the American hip-hop style their adopting (I’ve outgrown that), but I like their songs and I listen to their music, they’re pretty cool. I’m just someone they can’t call a fan (yet).

Anyway, I wish them luck on their upcoming Korean concerts, and I hope to hear that song soon.

BIG BANG'S PRESS CONFERENCE
Chosun Online + Sairanna
By: Big Bang! Fansite

After Big Bang's successful concerts in Japan last March 28 and 29, the group held a press conference last March 31 in a hotel in Tokyo. Only 4 of the members, excluding V.I were present because V.I had to return to Korea for his solo work.

During the press conference, they were asked what their thoughts are on the concerts.

"I was tensed but I was able to show my own style. It was satisfactory although there were still things I could have done better," TOP said.

"(In Japanese) I was happy to sing in front of Japanese fans," SOL said.

"It was meaningful because it was our first time. It's something that I'll never forget. We'd like to do a concert in a bigger venue," G-DRAGON said.

"It's great because fans enjoyed it but I was tensed because it was our first time to hold a concert in Japan," D-LITE said.

With regard to how Japanese are as an audience, G-DRAGON said, "There is no difference in South Korea and Japan. We had fun and sung together. In the first concert, everyone was sitting but the recent one, everyone was standing."

When asked how G-DRAGON makes music, he said he also gets ideas from members. TOP also shared that when G-DRAGON suddenly gets an idea, so he won't forget about it, he'll immediately send a text message.

Big Bang is interested in fashion and it seems that the group also has passion for shopping. "We can't shop in Korea that easily but in Japan, if we have time, even if it's just an hour, we go shopping." Big Bang says that it loves going to Japan because the members get to sleep a lot, prepare nice meals and have fun.

Meanwhile, plans for a concert in Thailand and a 5-city tour in Korea starting April, 2nd album and SOL's solo album are already scheduled. The "GLOBAL WARNING TOUR" is also scheduled in October to become bigger in scope and include provinces.

Big Bang's 2nd Japanese mini album "With U" is set to come out on May 28 and  SOL said that it's an album where members' styles are shown. The mini album also includes the Japanese version of "Ma Girl."

To cap it all, fatigue still remains after the back to back concerts but the members are enjoying the after-effect of the concerts' success but Big Bang expressed that the group is yet to develop. "We're still young and still have a lot of things to improve on."

They sounded careful in their comments about the comparisons between the Japanese fans and Korean fans. TVXQ does the same (on giving careful comments). The big difference that I see is that most of the time, Korean fans are really really loud during the entire performance / concert (just most of the time).

In TVXQ's case I noticed Korean fans shout and scream for their oppas even on their mellow songs. The Japanese audience usually listens quietly when the group starts to sing mellow and slow songs. People tend to think that the Japanese fans seem more reserved (or behaved?) when watching concerts, or looking at the obvious reason -their culture. Hard to explain it verbally, but you know what I mean.

GLOBAL WARNING TOUR 2008

CHOSUN
By: krnloop.wordpress

BIG BANG successfully finished its first concert in its “GLOBAL WARNING TOUR 2008” in front of 3,000 fans at the Tokyo CJB Hall on March 28.

The concert, which started at 7:20 pm, lasted for 2 hours and 19 songs like “So Beautiful,” and English versions of “Lie,” “La La La,” and “Last Farewell,” were sung. Japanese fans actually surprised the staff because when BIG BANG sang “Lie,” they sang along in Korean.

Solo stages of members were also enjoyed by fans. During Daesung’s performance of his solo song “Trying to Smile,” one fan was even ushered up on stage and was given a flower and the romantic treatment.

As reported earlier, Gummy was present in the concert as a guest performer. Other YG Family members were also there, including Yang Hyun Suk, Jinusean and actress Goo Hye Sun, to show their support to the group.

After the concert, BIG BANG expressed that it was very nerve wracking to hold its first concert in Japan but they were very happy to know that there are a lot of people in Japan who are listening to their songs.

BIG BANG will always work hard to give the best performances,” the group said after the concert.

Meanwhile, BIG BANG is set to hold 2 sets of performances today, one at 2 pm and the other at 6 pm at the JCB Hall.

Sure looks like Big Bang finally nailed the Japanese music market. Not bad for a first concert, 3000 fans is already a very large number for a debut. Just shows that having an all-English album is good enough for the Japanese, as long as their music is great –they can surely pull it off.

I’m not a Big Bang fan, but I listen to them sometimes, and they’ve earned my respect. I think they’re pretty good. I just hope they don’t copy Americans too much, I find it really annoying, especially looking at the How Gee video. I didn’t even finish watching it ~ever! Anyway, I’m glad for their success and hope they make more and better music in the future.

I’m not a fan of Big Bang, but I listen to all their songs. I commend them for their self-composed music, better English, and earned popularity. I just noticed I easily get tired of their songs, I don’t know why. But they’re good artists, and should be respected (unless they bad mouth an artist).

I haven’t listened to the entire live album, but I watched a few clips of the live concert. What’s impressive is they sang with live music instead of recorded music. I like that better in a concert. I find it more genuine and entertaining. So you can imagine how much I loathe lip syncs. Yawn~ lip-syncing is certainly the most unprofessional thing an artist will do!

DBSK SURPASSES H.O.T.'s EXCELLENCE
KRFILM.net
By: pooh9x@KST_CICHLID + SpiderLiliez

In a recent interview, Korean male singer Kangta, ex-member of famous boy band called H.O.T. back in the 90s has given lavish praises to fellow SM Entertainment collegues, Dong Bang Shin Ki. He said that DBSK's real talent had overcome H.O.T. compared to when H.O.T. was famous.

Kangta works directly under SM Entertaiment and is also a major shareholder in the company. Kangta and his band H.O.T. debuted on 1996, 8 years earlier than DBSK. The arrival of H.O.T. in the music scene has raised the wave of love for boy bands in Korean pop. While the arrival of DBSK, in 2004 once again created a new trend of establishing boy bands and Korean idols.

Kangta said "Famous bands now such as Big Bang or DBSK are more excellent than us compared to our time. By comparing DBSK and H.O.T. from the same management company, we can see the difference. For example, Junsu - the main vocalist of DBSK is much better than me compared to my time. Also I know that some people doubt their abilities just because they have the fame of the so called idol boy band; I think that’s not fair".

Finally, Kangta recollects about the old days w/ H.O.T. “Now when I think about the past with H.O.T., I feel like it’s such a dream. I realize how a remarkable time that was. When people want to recall those days, it feels like its so far away.”

Must have been very weird for Kangta, I mean having such fame and recognition as the hottest boy band and idols in the 90's, it must have felt like it was just a dream. Being all nostalgic has that strange-happy-sad feeling to it. But he looks like he’s truly admiring the talents of his juniors (DBSK and other new groups). I appreciate his humble words and honesty. I wonder how his H.O.T. peers feel about it too, I would love to hear what they have to say.

Sure enough DBSK has great talents that you can’t deny whether you’re watching them or just listening to them. But I can’t really compare H.O.T. and DBSK, because I don’t have the right to. I never really listened nor watched Kpop at that time when H.O.T. was famous. Rather I was glued to Channel V and MTV Asia especially; but I don’t recall Korean music videos and artists ever being there. Back in the 90's American, Australian and European music were my addictions. In short, I wasn’t exposed to Kpop at that time.

One thing I know though, I have always loved POP music in whatever sub-genre or geographical location it is from. And DBSK sure has offered their notable share in pop history.
