JAY CHOU: I GIVE MUM ALL MY MONEY

Jay Chou ( 周杰倫 ) took part in a promotional event for an online games company in Taipei today.

Jay is the face of over nine sponsors – jobs which reportedly earn him a total of NT$100 million.

He revealed, however, that he gives all his money to his mother.

He said that his mum, who still sees him as a kid and does not think he can take care of money, puts his income into savings and investments.

He revealed that he has to ask his mother any time he needs large amounts of money.

The superstar, who owns three properties in Taiwan, told reporters that he is house-hunting in Hong Kong and Shanghai, even though his mum disapproves.

The star also has a penchant for classic cars and owns over a dozen.

I find that really cute and sweet, but I dunno Jay Chou’s mom. So I could take that back. Coz right now I imagine her mother as a strict but caring parent. Like Jay Chou is still some child-star that his parents should handle his finances.

But Asians are usually more attached to their parents more than other people (correct me if I'm wrong), and even at ages when you’re old enough to move out, we prefer to stay with our parents. Somehow for Jay, it could be a good thing, at least he gets to save his money unlike other celebrities.

He is 31 years old now, and obviously you’d be saying he’s old enough to manage his own life (even have a family and be a dad). Recently there were reports where Jay Chou is giving hints that he wants a girlfriend. I couldn’t believe he still doesn’t have one.

I find Jay Chou as a pretty cool guy. I mean he’s young, talented and successful. He’s got so much to do as an artist. If one career doesn’t take off he can always do another. Aside from being an actor and singer, he can always direct movies (thanks to the success of his film "Secret"), or be a music producer, or a music writer. Obviously the guy’s like insured for life.

JAY CHOU & ZHANG ZI YI IN 'HUA MU LAN' (aka MULAN)

Yesterday the correspondent of The North Star Group revealed that they will begin filming ‘MULAN’ end of March or beginning of April 2008. The filming location will be at Huang Pi (said to be Mulan’s hometown). According to the investors, they have invited a powerful cast this time round - Zhang Zi Yi and Jay Chou as the leading actress and actor.

The North Star Investment Group representatives made the official announcement at the Huang Pi Panlong Economic Development Zone. According to Li Xiao Li, one of the representatives of the North Star Group, the film involves a total investment cost of no less than US30 million. The crew and the casts will begin shooting end of March or beginning of April and will be released beginning of next year (2009) in China.

I loved the Disney version, of course it's all happy ending and such. I'm just quite afraid to watch this live-action coz it's realistic this time. Some people don't know but I read that Mulan's story is true to some extent, and there was a production made on the story long ago. I have still yet to read a full and detailed article about it.

I wonder if this is going to use the same plot as the one on Disney. I'm sure Mushu the dragon won't be around, and the dead ancestors won't be popping anywhere either. So it's going to be a lot different.

About the cast, I've heard people complain about Zhang Zi Yi being involved in another major epic movie. To be honest, I'm quite tired of seeing her in such productions. But I'm quite interested on Jay Chou's involvment as I've come to respect this guy's works lately.
